What is the Center for Applied Community Engagement?
The Center for Applied Community Engagement (CACE) is a private institute whose mission is to support and connect the growing professional field of community engagement and public participation practitioners from around the globe through market research, content publishing, industry events and other services.
Who is behind it?
The Center for Applied Community Engagement was founded in January 2017 by Tim Bonnemann, President and CEO of Intellitics, Inc., a digital engagement consultancy based in San José, CA (USA).
In April 2017, the organization was formally registered as a California LLC.
As of July 1, 2017, we have taken over ownership of ParticipateDB and Online Facilitation Unconference, two initiatives previously led by digital engagement consultancy Intellitics, Inc.
What is a social enterprise?
According to the Social Enterprise Alliance, a social enterprise is an organization that addresses a basic unmet need or solves a social problem through a market-driven approach.
In other words, the organization’s public good mission is at the center. Rather than being driven by the need to deliver profit to shareholders and owners, income generation plays an important supporting role.
